August 2008:
Well, it's been a looooong time since I updated the website. I know, people have been poking me with a sharp stick. No excuse, except for the fact that we've moved twice in 3 years, which has caused considerable disruption to my work schedule. Happily, we are now finally settled into our (hopefully) permanent home here in Minnetonka, Minnesota. It's really quite lovely here. Everyone talks about the winters in MN, how brutal the cold is, etc. Actually we find the winter fairly mild compared to 12 years in Chicago. And having grown up in New Hampshire, I enjoy the snow and regular change of seasons. Gives you something to look forward to.
As mentioned, it has been a bit hard to paint while in the midst of packing/unpacking. I have managed to finish a couple of new pieces though, which are posted in the "paintings" section of the site. Hope you like 'em. In our new house I have built a large and comfortable painting studio. Finally I have a place dedicated to work-- makes life a whole lot easier.
Just found out yesterday that my painting "Welcome to Minneapolis" was accepted to the art show at the Minnesota State Fair. The good news is that over 1.6 million people will visit the fair this year. The bad news is that I won't be there, having booked a trip which prevents me from attending. At least I'll be somewhere fun: Greece. Katia's family is having a reunion on Crete, so it should be a blast. Opah!
One of my pieces, "Beauty and the Beast", was featured in the November 2007 issue of Harper's Magazine. Very cool.
I am amazed at the number of people who have contacted me from all over the world after visiting my website. So far I have enjoyed messages from Canada, Iran, Italy, Wales, England, as well as the US. Thanks to all for taking time to send a note, your comments are much appreciated!
In case anyone is interested, I have also just posted a page on Facebook.
It has more info about me, my family, personal interests, etc. Gotta love the internet, I can't remember what life was like before...
I am planning a complete redesign of this site in the near future. More visual, interactive and fun. Probably in about 6 months.
Here are some of the sites I've been playing with recently:
